How Goldsmiths’ students spend time on campus

When you are considering applying to universities, the feeling of real student life may be one of the facts that you would like to know. Today, I am going through main facilities in the campus that Goldsmiths students spend time most of their time in.

On campus cafes

At Goldsmiths, we have five cafes located across the campus so you would not miss coffee anytime in a day and all of them are close by to your classes!

Most of them are open from the time students have class, which is around 9-10am, until the late afternoon. Many students come and grab coffee and light snacks (you can also get lunch too!) and use the space for study, catch up with friends or social meetups which is constantly held by different student communities. Here are 2 of my favourite cafes as an example.

Café Thirty-Five :

Opening times are Monday to Friday : 8:30am – 6pm during term time

Café Thirty-Five is in the main campus building. This cafe is one of the main cafes used by students and local people at Goldsmiths. If you want to feel the vibes that Goldsmiths has to offer you would find them here.

Red Lion Coffee Co. :

Opening time is Monday to Friday ; 10am - 3pm

Red Lion Coffee Co is located in the Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA). As the location is not too obvious, it provides more of a cozy atmosphere on campus. Being hidden away from the obvious routes at the university helps it remain quieter and cozier for those wanting to have downtime from the rush of student life.

Library

Study space on the ground floor of the library

The library is one of the best friends for Goldsmiths’ students. The library is a three floor building and open 24 hours during the terms. Goldsmiths’ students come here to get support for their research or assignments, as well as borrowing books normally. The first floor is the students’ favourite study / social space. There are different type of study booths and chairs, so many students are using them for self-study, group study, having a break from study or just killing time (there is even a little gaming computer!). Since there is more space to study across each floor (quiet room, computer desks, meeting rooms), if you cannot focus on studying in your room or want to find favourite study space, the Goldsmiths’ library is always the best place to go.

Tired of studying? Here is your Gaming computer!

College Green

The College Green is the big green area located in the centre of the campus. On warm days, students bring lunch outside and enjoy little picnic between their classes. You could also end up making it into some art students photoshoots when they come to use the college green. This area is open for public as well as Café Thirty-Five and you are more than welcome to come and visit here and enjoy the atmosphere with Goldsmiths’ students.
